"I have spent the last 19 years teaching aerobics, dance, personal training and consulting in weight loss and natural hygiene. For the last 4 years I have spent most of my time developing and writing programmes, manuals and articles, as well as researching a host of different philosophies and principles.

"Having danced most of my life, I suffered continuous back and neck problems and pushed myself to perform in environments that rendered me incapacitated both physically and emotionally.

"Pilates is challenging but is most rewarding when performed correctly. I felt the benefits almost instantly. My flexibility improved straight away and I began to increase my strength and found stomach muscles I’d forgotten existed. My back became supported and the pain and strain started to ease. I became aware and conscious of the positive effects Pilates was having on my body and for the first time in my life understood the real value of exercising. An overwhelming sense of well-being and motivation prevailed and I wanted everyone to feel the same way.

"I opened our first studio, but it appeared that not everyone automatically responded in the same way as I did, with clientele signing up, but not sticking with it. ‘It’s the nature of the industry’, and accepted as the norm, I was told. A common denominator unfolded in that there seemed to be a lack of understanding of what was required to perform the exercises properly, and more importantly the value that the exercises were to be providing." -Erit Livshitz
